Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

A beautiful day here on Hatteras Island.  We had clear skies, with a high of 81F.  This morning we had light north winds, increasing a little and switching to the southeast this evening.

Avon beaches had flounder and spot.  Buxton beaches had reports of sheepshead and sea mullet around the jetties, along with a few flounder.  Ramp 49 had catches of sea mullet, pompano and a 64lb cobia.  Hatteras beaches caught small bluefish, flounder and sea mullet.  Paul Cooney kayaked a bait out and boy did it pay off.  He caught this 64lb cobia here at Ramp 49.  Nice fish Paul!!

The inshore boats caught lots of Spanish mackerel.  They saw lots of cobia, but no catches.  The offshore boats came back to the dock with good catches of dolphin, some blackfin tuna and a few amberjack.  The boats that bottom fished, caught grouper and tilefish.  There was one blue marlin and six white marlin released today.  We would like to wish those fishing The Big Rock this week the best of luck!!!

The first day the Inferno hit the water in Cape Verde it produced a true 4 figure blue marlin and followed it up with an 800lber the very next fish! Run this lure on anything less than 130lb tackle at your peril! Lure Details Skirted Length: 500mm / 19.75” Hook Size: 12/0 -14/0 Leader Size: 600lb
