Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today we had more sunny skies.  The winds were from the west at 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 80’s.  The ocean has calmed with the offshore winds but there is still swell leftover from Hurricane Cristobal.

Up on the Avon beaches there was a few sea mullet and bluefish caught..  The Buxton beaches had some reports of bluefish and pompano.  Out at Cape Point in Buxton some nice puppy drum and sharks were caught. The Frisco beach over Ramp 49 had reports of sea mullet, bluefish and a nice over-size Red Drum was lost in the wash.  Down on the Hatteras beaches and the inlet there were bluefish, pompano, croakers and a sea mullet reported.

The inshore boats caught puppy drum, some bluefish and had a good day clamming in the Pamlico Sound

The offshore boats made it out even though the ocean was still a little rough.  Fishing was really good with limits of wahoo for some boats and nice gaffer and bailer dolphin, a few blackfin tuna and king mackerel.  A couple of sailfish were released.
