Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today we reached a high of 61F here on Hatteras Island.  The skies remained cloudy with rain showers in the morning.  The winds were west-south-west at 10 mph in the morning, switching to the south-south-east and decreasing to around 5 mph in the evening.  The temperature should gradually drop tonight.

The puppy drum bite was good (for this time of year) around Cape Point today.  Folks were using mostly jig heads and grubs, just a few using shrimp.  There were around 15 landed and a few lost.  There was also a speckled trout.  Picture below is Chris Hey of Frisco, he caught a nice 28.5″ red drum and a nice 22″ speckled trout.  The Frisco beach was grassy and rough today.

Bass Assassin Turbo / Sea Shads

The Sea Shad is unbelievable when sight casting for feeding redfish. Its supersoft plastic gives you great tail action with the slightest twitch of the rod. It’s irresistible.  The puppy drum and speckled trout love these baits!
