Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Another great day on the beach. The temperatures were in the lower 70’s again today. Winds were calm today and turned to the North.

Today started the Capital City Fourwheelers tournament and there were plenty of fish around for all the anglers. From the beach in Avon today there was bluefish, sea-mullet, black drum and keeper and citation sized red drum. The Avon Fishing pier had there annual Fish Like a Girl Tournament today as well. There was a good bite of bluefish, gray trout sea-mullet and black drum. In Buxton and here in Frisco there was puppy drum, bluefish and sea-mullet biting. Hatteras beach there was puppy drum and sea-mullet caught.

Inshore fishing was scattered again today. There was speckled trout and bluefish caught.

Offshore today the fishing was good again. The dolphin and wahoo bite was great. Yellow-fin and black-fin tuna made it in the boxes as well. There were some larger sized amberjacks caught as well.

An excellent Bluefish lure and long time favorite at Hatteras Island.  The Bait Bug is tied with 24″ of 50 lb. mono.  It is available in 2 body sizes, 1 1/8″ long or 1 3/4″ long.  The foam floating body keeps the bug riding the waves.  Works great with a trip of natural bait.  The smaller bug has a 2/0 bucktail hook and a trailer hook while the larger has a 3/0 bucktail hook with a trailer hook.
