Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Beautiful weather again today. This morning the temperatures were in the low 70’s and winds were from the west at 10-15 mph. Around noon the temperatures began to fall and winds shifted to the North-East.

Slower fishing from the beach today. Off the beach in Avon today there was blow toads and bluefish biting. From the beach there was spot, black drum, and puppy drum were caught. Great fishing in Buxton today. There was speckled trout, grey trout, blow toads, sea-mullet, and puppy drum caught today. Here in Frisco it was slower with puppy drum, and blow toads biting. In Hatteras there was blow-toads and bluefish off the beach, and in the sound there was black-drum and puppy drum in the sound.

This morning the inshore fishing was good. The flounder, puppy drum and speckled trout were biting. The winds picked up in the afternoon and no one fished.

Slow fishing offshore today due to rough conditions. Black-fin tuna fishing was good. The dolphin and king mackerel bite was fair today.

Sea Striker Squid Skirt Rig

An East Coast Favorite for flounder. Soft 3″ squid rig tied with 42 inches of 30 lb. test mono. The rig has a #4, three-way swivel at the top with a snap for easy sinker attachment. The bottom of the rig has a 1/0 saltwater wide gap flounder hook and a #2 nickel spinner blade above the squid.
