Day at the Docks began as a celebration of the “Spirit of Hatteras” after the village was devastated by Hurricane Isabel in 2003 and emerged as an intact community, anchored by the commercial and charter fleets. Since then, it has grown into a celebration of one of the last working waterfronts, an integral part and lifeline, of the village. At the event you will find activities and events that illustrate life on a working waterfront including fish cleaning, net hanging, and knot tying.
