Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today was much nicer once the scattered rain showers left early.  The winds were from the north-east at 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 70’s.

Only fish to report were spanish mackerel and bluefish out Cape Point at Shelly Island in Buxton.

A few inshore had good puppy drum and speckled trout action and lots of clams in the Pamlico Sound.

The offshore boats had pretty good fishing.  Some dolphin and blackfin tuna were caught.  Nice citation wahoo’s were being brought in.  A few sailfish and a blue marlin were released.  Tilefish and grouper were caught off the bottom.

Today was part;y sunny and with light winds. The winds were from the north in the morning switching to the south-west at 5 mph and the temperatures were in the low 70’s.

Around the Buxton beaches there were bluefish, sea mullet and puppy drum caught. Out at Cape Point in Buxton only some sharks and skates reported.  Over on Ramp 49 in Frisco and down on the Hatteras beaches there were sea mullet, blow toads and puppy drum reported.

The inshore boats had a good day catching the big red drum out around Cape Point and Hatteras Inlet.

The offshore boats caught several bottom fish including black sea bass, triggerfish, snapper, tilefish. grouper and glass eyes.  The blackfin tuna bite was really good with several citation fish caught. A few dolphin, wahoo and king mackerel were also reported.

Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today was sunny and warm with light winds. The winds were from south-west at 5 mph and the temperatures were in the upper 60’s.

Out at Cape Point in Buxton the big red drum hit the beach this afternoon and early evening.   They are probably still catching them as I type this.  If you have not already heard Cape Point in Buxton is closed to vehicle access because of some American Oyster Catchers exhibiting some breeding behavior.  You can still walk below the high tide line in the water to get to Cape Point.    Over on the Frisco Beach some blow toads, sea mullet and a few puppy drum were all caught today.

The inshore boats had a decent day of  puppy drum catches in the Pamlico Sound.

The offshore boats had a real good blackfin tuna bite again today.  Also some tilefish and rose fish were brought up from the bottom.

The picture below is a nice golden tilefish caught aboard the “Bite Me” charter boat out of Hatteras.  Nice catch.
