Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.
Today was sunny with more south-west summer winds . The winds were from the south-west at 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 80’s
On the Buxton beach a few sea mullet, bluefish, pompano and even some spanish mackerel were reported. Over on the Frisco beach and ramp 49 fishing was slower than yesterday. Only a few croaker and sea mullet caught. Down on the Hatteras beach bluefish, sea mullet and spot were reported.
The inshore boats caught bluefish and puppy drum and a few citation size red drum in the Pamlico Sound.
The offshore fishing was pretty good today with good dolphin catches and pretty good blackfin tuna with few wahoo and amberjacks reported. One blue marlin released with lots of billfish spotted hooked up and lost.
Coming up this week July 10-13th is the 9th Annual Hatteras Grand Slam offshore fishing tournament. This tournament is unique with its Hatteras Style, Fun filled tournament that has a winner take all Level for the first boat to catch a grand slam for the day. A Grand Slam is catching a Blue Marlin, White Marlin and a Sailfish. The Grand Slam JackPot rolls over every year if there is no winner. So the pot is building.
