Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today was such a nice day with comfortable temperatures and lots of sunshine.  We had light north winds 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the upper 60’s.

The fishing today was great with spanish mackerel, some blue fish, a few gray trout and cobia caught off the Avon Pier.  Out at Cape Point in Buxton more cobia, some puppy drum and big drum along with some bluefish were reported.  Over on the Frisco beach some pompano, bluefish, black drum and sea mullet were caught.  The picture below is Francis Kennedy with a 5 lb 10 oz black drum caught on the south beach today.  Pretty work Francis.

The inshore boats caught more cobia, but in the 40-60 lb range, a little bigger than yesterday.  There were  bluefish, puppy drum and gray trout reported in the Pamlico Sound today.  The offshore fleet reports good gaffer dolphin, a few wahoo, and blackfin tuna.  A blue marlin and a white marlin were released today.  Tomorrow is the first day of the 20 th Annual Hatteras Village Offshore Open.  Good Luck to all the participants.
