Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.
Today we had mostly clear skies with some light rain early in the morning. The winds were from the north-east at 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the upper 70’s.
The Avon beaches had some sea mullet and pompano reported. The Buxton beaches reported a few spot, sea mullet and puppy drum. The Frisco beach had so much swell from Tropical Storm Bertha that holding bottom was near impossible and we have no reports of any fish caught. The Hatteras Inlet had some bluefish and a few spanish mackerel early in the morning on lures.
The inshore boats had good catches of gray trout, bluefish and puppy drum.
The wahoo fishing was excellent with a few dolphin and real good tilefishing from the bottom today. A sail fish was released today by the “Hatteras Fever II” pictured below.

Aftco Guy Harvey “Wahoo” Short Sleeve Tee
The wahoo may be the fastest fish in the sea over short distances. One of the great sounds in sportfishing is the zipping sound made by the line cutting through the water as a wahoo rips towards the bow of the boat. A favorite food of many big game fishermen, wahoo are primarily caught by east coast anglers while trolling and by west coast anglers using live baits.
