Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Today’s high got up to 86 but felt like it was in the 90s. Winds have been gentle to moderate, not nearly as intense as they were predicted to be. They’ve been mainly out of the W and SW. Currently it’s 82 but feels like 88 with winds out of the SW at 9mph with gusts up to 16mph. Tomorrow’s temps and winds are looking to be similar to today.

We didn’t hear of anything from the surf or sound this afternoon.

Inshore boats brought in Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel, and Bluefish.

Offshore boats brought in Wahoo, Dolphin, Grouper, and Blackfin Tuna. There were several billfish releases today (2 Sailfish, 2 Blue Marlin, 1 Swordfish)

At the shop today we weighed in a 40lb King Mackerel caught by Chris Glancy of Virginia Beach, VA.
