Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Today’s high was 82. Winds have been gentle to moderate and out of the NE/NNE. Currently it’s 73, feels like 74, with NE winds at 7mph. Gusts up to 21mph. Tomorrow is looking to be nearly the same as today. Today’s winds only got up to 13mph when they were predicted to be 16mph, so tomorrow’s winds will likely be around the same.

Water temp was between 79.5 and 80.4 today.

On the surf side we heard of Sea Mullet and Spanish Mackerel being caught.

In the sound, we’re hearing reports of more Bluefish, Speckled Trout, and Red Drum. If you catch anything else let us know!

This evening we had citations for Red Drum and Bluefish. There’s some big ones out there, they just seem to bite more in the evenings!

Inshore boats said the wind wasn’t gonna bother them and brought in Bluefish, Speckled Trout, and Red Drum. Some even had a nice haul of Clams.

Offshore boats went for it against the wind but didn’t come back empty handed. They returned to the docks with Wahoo, Dolphin, Grouper, and Blackfin Tuna. There was also a release of a Blue Marlin.
