7-30-11 Outer Banks Fishing Report

Here is your Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island.

The weather today was decent. South West winds at 10-15 mph for the better part of the day. Winds have just started switching to the east within the last hour or so. Temperatures were in the upper 80s to lower 90s again.

Beach Fishing was pretty decent again. Lots of bluefish and spanish mackerel at the point early on. Also a decent sea mullet and spot bite on the south beach.

Inshore charter guides had a little improvement from yesterday. Reports of good bluefish and speckled trout bites came from Hatteras Harbor Marina.

Offshore charters had a day to remember. The billfish bite was unbelievable. A total of 19 sailfish were caught out of Hatteras Harbor. Bite Me landed 11, Native Son 4, Tuna Duck 3, and Hatteras Fever landed 1. Teach’s Lair Marina  had one boat, “Hattitude” with 10 sail fish releases. There was also an unbelievable wahoo bite as multiple boats reported 10 or more wahoo caught. And yet again, the dolphin bite was still going strong. There were also reports of barracuda releases.

The wind is supposed to blow 5-10 mph out of the south-east tomorrow. Temperatures are expected to be in the high 80’s to low 90’s again and there is supposed to be a 50% chance of rain.

With the wind laying down tomorrow, the fishing should be enjoyable.
