8-2-11 Outer Banks Fishing Report

Here is your Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island.

The weather was extremely nice today. Temperatures in the high 80’s and low 90’s. The wind blew 5-10 mph out of the south-west for the majority of the day. The water was super clear on north and south beaches.

Beach Fishing was decent today as we had a few reports of different fish. There were flounder being caught around Hatteras Inlet. Sea mullet and pompano along the south beach. Spanish mackerel and bluefish caught off of the point and at Hatteras Inlet. Believe it or not, around 7:30 pm a small cobia was also caught at Hatteras Inlet.

Inshore guides had a great day as well. Reports of gray and speckled trout, a few drum, spanish mackerel, and bluefish came from Hatteras Harbor.

Offshore boats had a phenomenal day. There were reports of 2 sailfish caught today, one from Bite Me, and the other from Sea Creature. There was also excellent dolphin fishing, a decent wahoo bite, and scattered catches of blackfin tuna.

The forecast for tomorrow isn’t too bad. The wind is expected to pick up and blow 15-20 mph out of the southwest. Only a 10% chance of rain, and temperatures expected to be in the low 90’s. Even though a southwest wind usually makes the water murky, with the way the fish have been biting it is still worth giving fishing a chance.
