Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Today was a bit breezier which helped cut the sweltering heat just a little. The high was 86 while the low was 79 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 35mph. Currently it’s 81, feels like 84, with SW winds around 13mph. Gusts around 22mph. Tomorrow temps and winds will be comparable to today. Rain should be moving in in the afternoon and continuing into Thursday.

Sound water temp: 81-85

Ocean water temp: ~84


Surf: The surf is still providing a variety of catches- Buefish, Croaker, Red Drum, Sea Mullet, Sharks, and Spot

Sound: Speckled Trout season is finally open! We’ve heard of some being caught along with Bluefish and Red Drum.

Inshore: Speckled Trout season reopened today! Inshore parties had their fair share of Speckled Trout catches along with Bluefish, Gray Trout, and Red Drum.

Offshore: No report, they stayed at the docks due to wind.
