Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

We had clear skies today with winds from the west switching to the south-west in the afternoon at 5-10 mph.  The temperature was around 80 degrees today.  With the Government Shut Down access to the ramps on Hatteras and Ocracoke Island were still closed.  You can park and walk over on most of the turnouts up and down the Island and access to the beach in front of the houses are not affected.

On the Buxton beaches puppy drum and bluefish are still being caught. Over on the Frisco beach bluefish, sea mullet, spot and a few puppy drum have been reported.  Down on the Hatteras beaches there were spot, sea mullet, bluefish and flounder caught.

The boats fishing the Pamlico Sound had good catches of puppy drum and a few speckled and gray trout in the afternoon. Along the beaches the spanish mackerel and bluefish bite was pretty good.

The offshore boats had beautiful slick calm conditions today.  Good dolphin catches were reported and a few yellowfin tuna and wahoo were caught.  The bottom fishing was good today.  Sea bass, trigger fish and tilefish were all brought up from the bottom.  One blue marlin was released today.
