Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today was beautiful with sunny skies.  We had north-east winds at 5-10 mph and the temperatures got into the low 60’s today.

The fishing continues to be good today.  Good catches of Puppy drum were reported out at Cape Point.  We had more puppy drum action over Ramp 49 in Frisco.  The picture below is Landon with his puppy drum he caught today while fishing with his dad on the Frisco beach.  Pretty work Landon!!!

There is no inshore report today.  The offshore black fin tuna fishing was good again today, still mostly on vertical jigs.  Also a few king mackerel were reported. The picture below is yesterday’s catch of a Bluefin Tuna, the first of the season caught by the charter boat “Drum Stick” out of Ocracoke NC by Captain Ferris and Nick.  Pretty work guys!!!

On a separate note the bluefin tuna show Wicked Tuna is filming out of Oregon Inlet and Hatteras Inlet this season.  The “Tuna Duck” is rigged up with cameras out of Hatteras and a few more commercial and charter boats are fishing out of Oregon Inlet.  The Outer Banks show should air towards the end of this year.
