Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.
Today was a little nicer. We had south-west winds 10-15 mph and the temperatures were in the upper 80’s.
On the Avon beach there were some spot and sea mullet reported. Around the Buxton beaches sharks, spot, croaker and sea mullet were caught. The fishing on the southern beaches were slow.
The inshore boats had good catches puppy drum in the Pamlico Sound.
The offshore fishing was really good today with limits of dolphin and some nice wahoo. The gray tile, snapper and triggerfish bite was good from the bottom.
Today was the first day of the 2014 10th Annual Hatteras Grand Slam Billfish Tournament. Participants fish 2 out of 3 days. After day one the “Swordfish” is in first place with one blue marlin release and in second is the “Salvation” with a white marlin release. Good Luck to the boats fishing for the next two days. Conditions should improve offshore. For more information go to hatterasgrandslam.com.
