• Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Today was cooler than yesterday but it didn’t feel like it. The high was 80 around 1pm today. Winds have been from the NE/NNE all day. Currently it’s blowing 7mph. This morning at 8am there was still a 70% chance of rain but that didn’t happen. Although it did rain again around 3-4am. Tomorrow winds are switching to the NE/ENE and are gonna be a bit stronger than today. It’s looking like tomorrow the boats should stay at the docks because of this storm that’s passing by.

Catches in the surf included Bluefish, Puppy Drum, Sea Mullet, Spanish Mackerel, and Croaker.

On the sound side there was Puppy Drum and Speckled Trout.

Offshore boats got into Dolphin, Wahoo, and Blackfin Tuna. There was a release of a Barracuda as well.

Inshore boats limited out with Spanish Mackerel.

The high today was 84. It’s currently around 74. Winds have been switching up today but are currently out of the NE at 3.5mph. Gusts got up to 18mph earlier. It looks like we’re gonna be in the storm until around 3am but rain is sticking around until about 7-8am.

It was a slow day again for the surf fishermen. Didn’t hear of anything to report other than some Sea Mullet.

On the soundside there’s been Speckled Trout and Red Drum.

One brave boat went offshore today and caught gaffer Dolphin and released a Blue Marlin.

Inshore boats had it out again with the Red Drum and Spanish Mackerel.

High today was 85 but felt like 90. Thankfully we had more wind today than the past two days. Wind has been SW most of the day between 7-14mph. Currently the wind is blowing about 13mph still out of the SW. Tomorrow winds look like they’re going to switch to WSW and temperature will be about the same as today.

We didn’t hear much about any fish being caught in the surf or sound today but we did get a nice delivery of Mullet this afternoon so hopefully tomorrow will be better.

    • We also have bloodworms, night crawlers, lug worms, and shrimp for bait.

There was one release of a Blue Marlin today. Catches of a few Dolphin and bottom fish were reported. Other than that the fishing was pretty bleak.

Inshore boats had a nice time limiting out on Spanish Mackerel and Red Drum. They also got Bluefish and Speckled Trout.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Today got up to a high of 88. Winds have been out of the SSW around 5-10mph. Gusts of up to 20mph later tonight. Tomorrow is looking like it’ll be just slightly cooler than today.

Not much of a report from the surf or sound (that we heard of) but there’s still plenty Drum and Trout out there.

Inshore boats caught Red Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, and Cobia.

Offshore boats released several Blue Marlins and a couple of White Marlins. They caught plenty more gaffer Dolphin along with Wahoo and Yellowfin Tuna.

We had some technical difficulties yesterday so here’s the 5/31/22 Fishing Report.

    • Report from the surf included Puppy Drum.
    • Speckled Trouts are still being caught soundside.
    • We just weighed a 60lb Cobia here at the shop.
    • Inshore boats did well with Speckled Trout, Bluefish, and Cobia.
    • Offshore boats are still killing it with the Dolphin. Along with those they brought in some Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna. They also released more Blue Marlin.
