Hatteras Island Fishing Report
August 6, 2025
Today was overcast in the morning then rainy in the early afternoon. The high was 82 while the low was 73 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 19mph. Currently it’s 77, feels like 83, with NE winds around 5mph. Tomorrow should have similar temps and slightly stronger winds. Chance of rain midday.

Sound water temp: 77-82 – Cloud coverage kept the temps lower

Surf: Bluefish, Pompano, Sea Mullet

Sound: Bluefish, Speckled Trout

Inshore: Inshore boats had a variety today – Bluefish, Clams, Red Drum, Sheepshead, and Speckled Trout.

Offshore: Offshore boats brought in Dolphin and Wahoo and released a Sailfish.

Hatteras Island Fishing Report
August 5, 2025
Today was warmer but still tolerable for extended periods of time. Much better than having real feels nearing 100. The high was 84 while the low was 75 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 19mph. Currently it’s 75, feels like 83, with NE winds around 3mph. Tomorrow is showing chances of storms but it doesn’t look likely until Thursday. The temps and winds should be about the same.

Sound water temp: 77-82

Ocean water temp: 77-82

Surf: Bluefish, Croaker, Pompano, Sea Mullet

Sound: Bluefish, Red Drum, Speckled Trout

Inshore: Inshore boats brought in Bluefish, Red Drum, and Spanish Mackerel.

Offshore: Offshore boats got out there today. They had catches of Blackfin Tuna, Dolphin, and Wahoo with a couple Sailfish releases.

Today had lighter winds but was still cooler with the temps staying below mid 80s. The high was 81 while the low was 73 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 19mph. Currently it’s 73, feels like 75, with NE winds around 6mph. Tomorrow looks like it’ll bring more of the same temps and winds.

Today had nice gusts and lower humidity. The high was 81 while the low was 73 with light to moderate winds. Gusts up to 29mph. Currently it’s 75, feels like 73, with NE winds around 11mph. Gusts around 22mph. Tomorrow we should see similar temps and winds. Winds will continue from the NE/NNE. Radar continues to be clear.
