    Today’s high was 75 while the low was 71 with light to moderate winds. Gusts up to 40mph. Currently it’s 72, feels like 67, with NNE winds around 16mph. Gusts around 30mph. Tomorrow will be windier with similar temps. With Humberto and Imelda passing offshore the winds will continue to be strong until Thursday or Friday and the surf/swell until Friday or Saturday. On top of that, several houses along the Buxton oceanfront have already fallen so it’s best to steer clear of the water even after the storms pass and the overwash recedes.

    Today’s high was 80 while the low was 75 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 18mph. Currently it’s 75, feels like 79, with NE winds around 9mph. Tomorrow temps will be similar but winds will increase. Winds are expected to get up to 30mph and gusts up to 40mph. With Humberto and Imelda passing offshore the winds will be strong the next 2-3 days and the surf will be churned up for several.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Today was another hot one. Definitely not the fall weather we’re wanting. The high was 83 while the low was 75 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 19mph. Currently it’s 79, feels like 84, with SSW winds around 9mph. Gusts around 18mph. Tomorrow will be warm again with similar winds. Rain is coming tomorrow evening or Saturday then into Sunday.
    Sound water temp: 78-80
    Ocean water temp: ~73

    9/23/25 – 9/25/25
    Surf: The oceanside catches have been scattered Bluefish, Pompano, Red Drum, and Sea Mullet up and down the island.
    Sound: The soundside has been producing some scattered Bluefish, Red Drum and Speckled Trout along the island.
    Inshore: Inshore boats had a not so common catch of King Mackerel mixed in with their catches of Bluefish, Red Drum, Spanish Mackerel, and Speckled Trout.
    Offshore: Offshore catches have consisted of steady Blackfin Tuna, Dolphin and Wahoo.
    Releases: Over the past few days there have been at least 19 Sailfish releases along with 2 Blue Marlin.
