    The high was 79 while the low was 72 with light to very strong winds. Gusts up to 66mph today. Currently it’s 73, feels like 72, with N winds around 15mph. Gusts up to 32mph. Tomorrow’s temps will be about the same. Winds will continue to be strong but will decrease as the day goes on. Thankfully the rain is past us now.

    The island will still feel the effects of Idalia into tomorrow. Here’s what we know right now:

    • There’s ~2-8in. of sound water coming across Hwy 12 in Frisco from Surf or Sound Dr to the Bathhouse
    • Hwy 12 is open and passable but has some sand and water
    • Some side roads in Hatteras Village have water and are impassable

    The high was 88 while the low was 80 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 10mph today. Currently it’s 81, feels like 91, with SSE winds around 4mph. Tomorrow’s temps will be similar while winds will be increased (up to 40mph). Expect rain.

    The island is looking at some interesting weather due to Hurricane Franklin and Tropical Storm Idalia, be sure to keep an eye on the forecast. Here’s what we know right now:

    • We will continue to see life-threatening surf and rip currents
    • We’re looking at possibly 6-10 inches of rain
    • We should experience tropical-storm-force winds through Thursday

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    The high was 90 while the low was 75 with light winds. Gusts up to 10mph today. Currently it’s 84, feels like 93, with S winds around 4mph. Tomorrow we will see an increase in winds while temps will remain about the same. Rain should be starting in the afternoon and carrying into Thursday.

    The island is looking at some interesting weather due to Hurricanes Franklin and Idalia, be sure to keep an eye on the forecast. Here’s what we know so far:

    • Ocean over wash is coming across the dunes onto Hwy 12 at Sandy Bay
    • Ocean over wash on Hwy 12 from north of Cross of Honor way to the old S curves in Rodanthe
    • Cape Point is impassable at high tide
