Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today we had rainy weather with light winds.  The winds were mostly from the north-east at 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 60’s.  Tonight and tomorrow we have a coastal low with heavy winds and temperatures dropping into the 30’s.  North-west winds 25-30 mph with gusts to 43 mph and the temperatures will be high of 41 and low of 35.

The only report of fish caught today were out at Cape Point in Buxton.  Puppy drum, one 45 in red drum, a few black drum and speckled trout.  Plenty of sharks were also caught.

There is no inshore report today.  The offshore fishing was pretty good with king mackerel catches .

stormr typhoon neo watch cap beanie black

The STORMR jacket has an impervious and custom-fitted hood, but for those days when it’s not needed, the TYPHOON Watch Cap Beanie can provide the same warmth with a bit more peripheral vision. Worn together, they provide maximum protection and heat retention. Keeping your head warm is the key to keeping your body temperature regulated, and this beanie is a superior thermal insulator – it sheds water, wicks moisture from you scalp and keeps you warm and comfortable no matter what the conditions.

  • Cape Hatteras Notebook: Happy New Year!

Frisco Rod and Gun Family is Growing!
Frisco Rod and Gun Family is Growing!

Frisco Rod and Gun has had a lot to be thankful for in 2013 and we are looking forward to seeing what 2014 holds for all of us!

We are happy to add “Cape Hatteras Notebook” as a new feature to our store’s blog to help keep in touch with our friends throughout the year. This does not replace the Fishing Report, but will give you a glimpse of things around the island and happenings in our store. We will work hard to post a little something here every few days.

To start off the New Year and the new blog page, we would like to introduce you to a few new faces at Frisco Rod and Gun. As you can see the Perry family has grown a good bit in the last year! Many of you know Bryan and Susie Perry who have owned Frisco Rod and Gun since 1979 and even worked here before that. Long time customers have watched my brother Kyle and myself grow up in the store. After graduating our respective colleges we both ended up back on Cape Hatteras and working with our parents. In the last decade you have probably been helped by one of us on the sales floor. Both of us found we didn’t want to live anywhere else but here! Five years ago my husband and I welcomed Joe into the world and he has spent a great deal of time at “work” with Mommy and his Grandparents. Kyle and his wife, Jessica, added a new Perry into the family with the birth of their son, Bodey in August. And I followed suit in October with my twins, Thomas and Patrick. We are loving having these new babies in the store! And all boys at that!

We are looking forward to helping you throughout the years to come! We wish you the happiest of New Years in 2014 and hope to see all of you soon!
