• Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today we had mostly sunny skies.  The winds were from the south-west at 10-20 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 80’s

    The fishing was a decent today.  On the Buxton beach some sea mullet, pompano and bluefish were reported.  The Frisco and Hatteras beaches had some bluefish and sea mullet reported.

    The inshore boats caught red drum and flounder today in the Pamlico Sound.

    The offshore fleet had good catches of dolphin and yellowfin tuna.  No billfish from the Hatteras fleet today.

    The 1st day of The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament was full of blue marlin releases and some nice size dolphin.  11 blue marlin, 4 white marlin and a sail fish were released today.   The “Sensation” boated the first blue marlin of the tournament weighing 423.8 lbs to take the lead in the 55th Big Rock.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today we had mostly sunny skies with a few late afternoon showers.  The winds were from the south-west at 10-15 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 80’s

    The fishing was a little slow today.  Only some sea mullet were reported on the Buxton beaches.  The Frisco beach had some sea mullet and bluefish.  Down on the Hatteras beaches sea mullet, some spot and bluefish were reported.  The Big drum made a showing down at Hatteras Inlet just after dark tonight.

    The inshore boats caught speckled and gray trout today in the Pamlico Sound.

    The offshore fleet had good catches of gaffer size dolphin, some boats caught some blackfin tunas and a scattered yellowfin tuna was reported.  One white marlin was released.

    Tomorrow is the first day of The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.  We want to wish all participants good luck and good fishing and especially our local boats:  “Hatteras Fever II”, “Islander”, “Release”, “Sea Creature”, “Swordfish”, “Tuna Duck” and “Whatever”  We hope to see one or all of you backing into the The Big Rock scales.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today we had much better weather.  The winds were from south-west at 10-15 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 80’s.

    The ocean was still rough with no reports from the beaches or from the boats.  The grass on the Frisco and Hatteras beach were pretty bad with the north beaches are still holding lots of swell.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today was a wash out.  Tropical Storm Andrea passed through just to the west of Hatteras Island and brought lots of rain early with  high winds to follow.  We had south winds 20-35 mph and some gusts to 53 mph.

    The ocean was rough with no reports from the beaches or from the boats.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today was nice and sunny until the rain showers arrived in the late afternoon.   The winds were from the south-east at 10-20 mph with the temperatures in the mid 80’s.

    The sea mullet and pompano bite was decent on most beaches from Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.  A few bluefish and flounder were reported on the Hatteras beach.

    The inshore boats caught lots of spanish mackerel and some speckled trout in the Pamlico Sound.  The offshore boats had another good day of fishing with citation dolphin being caught along with blackfin tuna and wahoo   Three blue marlin and two white marlin were released today..  The “Good Times” charter boat had a nice citation spanish mackerel weighing 6 lb pictured below.
