Here is your Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island:

Today was a bright sunny day.  The winds were from the south-west at 5-10 mph and temperatures were in the low 80’s.  We had reports of nice spanish mackerel and bluefish at Cape Point in Buxton.  The Frisco beach had some bluefish and sea mullet.  There is still some puppy drum being caught down at Hatteras Inlet.  The Inshore fishing from Hatteras has been real good with catches of speckled trout, gray trout, bluefish and some spanish mackerel.  Still no offshore action, but it will not be long.  Hatteras Island opens back up to visitors on Thursday September 15th.  Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras will be the only villages accessible to everyone by the Cedar Island and Swan Quarter ferries to Ocracoke then to Hatteras village.  Shop with us online at friscorodandgun.com  See you this weekend.

Here is your Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island:

Another nice day on Hatteras Island.  Light south-west winds with partly cloudy skies in the morning turning sunny just before noon.  The temperatures were in the mid 80’s.  The fishing has been pretty good.  We are hearing some bluefish from the beach in Buxton.  At Cape Point catches of puppy drum are reported.  The Frisco Beach had bluefish and still a few pompano being caught.  Down at the Hatteras Inlet shelling is still really good. As far fishing, some blue fish and sea mullet are being caught.   Inshore the boats are still catching some decent speckled trout and drum from small to just over the slot of 27″.  I do not have an offshore report due to visitors not being allowed to enter Hatteras Island at this time.  Although Dare County announced today that Thursday September 15 visitors will be allowed to enter the Villages of Hatteras, Frisco, Buxton and Avon by the ferry system by way of Cedar Island or  Swan Quarter to Ocracoke then to Hatteras Island.  You will have to make a reservation by calling 1 800 BY FERRY and there is a fee to ride the Cedar Island and Swan Quarter ferries.  Visit us at our brand new website at friscorodandgun.com Browse and shop online for all of your Fishing, Hunting, Camping and Beach Supplies.

Well the weather has been so nice.  Sunny skies and light south winds at 5-10 mph with temperatures in the low 80’s.  Since Hurricane Katia passed by with all the rough surf it is calm again.  I don’t have a surf fishing report , but the shelling has been great.  So has the trash pickup from the beach.  We have been doing both.  The inshore fishing has been excellent.  Lots of Speckled Trout being caught.  Most fish are over 15 inches.  Check out our new website http://friscorodandgun.com/  We have a new look and on-line shopping.

  • Frisco Beach/Fishing Report 9-8-11

Well there is not much to report on the fishing front, but the beach combing has been pretty good.  The swell from Hurricane Katia is here and is washing up over some of the weaker dunes on the way to Hatteras village.  It’s just a little bit of over wash, barely crossing highway 12.  There has been lots of stuff washing up from shells, trees, lumber, bottles, plastic and other types of trash.  Today we took a walk down from the Frisco Pier to see what was out there.  The only interesting find was part of an old ship wreck.  It was just a small piece but you can see the iron studs through the wood.

We also found another piece of the Pier.  It still seems to be hanging on pretty good.  From the beach the Frisco Pier looks the same as before Hurricane Irene.

Here at Frisco Rod and Gun we sure hope the fishing gets back to normal and Hatteras Island is back open for business.  I feel in a couple of weeks the visitors will be allowed back on the island.  Don’t quote me though.

Also check out our new website and shop with our on-line store.  We will be adding new items all the time. http://friscorodandgun.com/

  • Hurricane Irene Aftermath Update 9-6-11

We have had a busy week getting put back together and ready for Hatteras Island to open back sometime in the near future.  We dropped off some supplies, pet food and snacks from the Frisco Market to the Town of Avon and Rodanthe yesterday.  Pets need to eat too.  We also snapped a few shots of Mirlo Beach at high tide.  From the photos you will see the workers working hard to put sand back into the split.

You will also see the next few houses holding on for dear life while the Atlantic Ocean eats away at their pilings.  Oh, thats whats left of the blue house in the second photo.

Hopefully Hurricane Katia doesn’t slow production to the road being fixed.   Thank You for checking in on us.  We will update as we get information.
