• 7-6-11 Outer Banks Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island.
     
    Today’s weather on Hatteras Island was fair. Temperatures were in the low to mid 80’s. Winds blew out of the west for the majority of the day. Tonight the wind is supposed to switch around back to the south west. Winds are expected to be 10-15 mph tomorrow. There is also a chance of thunderstorms, with an 80% chance of rain.

    Beach Fishing on Hatteras Island was slow today. Very few reports of much of anything other than stingrays. There were still reports of extremely scattered pompano and sea mullet.

    Inshore Charter guides had a decent day today. Speckled trout and bluefish were caught throughout the entire fleet.

    Offshore Charters had a decent day as well. Dolphin fishing was good and a few amberjack were caught. Also scattered wahoo and blackfin tuna as well. There were 4 billfish, all sailfish, caught amongst the fleet. Charters that caught the fish were: Boss Lady, Gambler, Lucky Chip, and Tuna Duck.

    Tomorrow might not be the best fishing conditions, but sometimes you catch the biggest fish in the worst weather.


  • 7-5-11 Outer Banks Fishing Report

    Here is your Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island:

    Today was sunny and hot.  The temperatures for Hatteras Island were in the upper 80’s most of the day with a southerly wind.
    Fishing was slow all day for most of the beaches with some scattered flounder, sea mullet, pompano, and blues. Avon reported one group of anglers catching some nice flounder most of the afternoon. They reported over a dozen nice keepers.The inshore boats had some good speckled trout fishing and some flounder and blues.

    Offshore was very slow with a few dolphin, wahoo, and blackfin tuna.  A few sailfish and white marlin were released. 


  • 7-4-11 Happy 4th of July

    Here is Frisco Rod and Gun’s Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island:  Today was a great day to be an American.  The weather was hot and sunny with lots of wind.  We had south-west winds 15-25 mph and the temperatures were in the upper 80’s.   Beach fishing was slow most of the day.  Down on the Buxton beach there were a few sea mullet, blues and spots caught.   Here on the Frisco beach only some sea mullet reported.  On the sound side in Hatteras there were several flounder caught.  Most of them were under size.  Inshore the flounder and bluefish bite was really good.  No boats made it offshore today because of the rough conditions.   Happy 4th of July to all of our customers and Thank You for your continued support over the years.


  • 7-3-11 Fishing Report

    Here is your Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island: 

    The weather was more rough today than it was yesterday. The wind did kick up and switch to the SW blowing 10-15 mph. Temperatures were in the mid to upper 80’s again today.

    Beach Fishing was slow, but not dead today. Reports of a few nice sized sea mullet and pompano came in. Tomorrow should be about the same since the wind is supposed to blow out of the same direction, with maybe even a little more force.

    Inshore Charter guides reported quite a nice day. They had catches of speckled trout, bluefish, and flounder.

    Offshore Charters also had a good report today. They said that the day was nice with a little breeze. Dolphin fishing was fair, a couple of wahoo, few blackin tuna and a couple amberjacks. The Big Eye had a really nice day, releasing 2 blue marlin, and 1 white marlin.

    The forecast for tomorrow is isolated thunderstorms with a 30% chance of rain. Winds blowing SW 15-25 mph and temperatures in the mid to high 80’s.


  • 7-2-11 Fishing Report

    Here is your Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island: 

    The weather was nice today as the temperatures were in the mid to upper 80’s and the wind blew out of the east at 5-10 mph. We also had clear sunny skies throughout the day, except for early on this morning when we had a small thunderstorm.Beach Fishing was great today.  We had pompano, sea mullet, bluefish, spanish mackerel, spot, and one 26″ puppy drum. The pompano seem to be acting a little different from normal.  Usually you would catch them just a few feet into the surf, today they were catching them on the bar instead.

    Inshore Charters had reports of good spanish mackerel, bluefish, and speckled trout. It was a pretty day all around out in the water.

    Offshore Charters also had a nice catches today. Reports of boats limiting out on dolphin, both bailers and gaffers, as well as a few wahoo and scattered blackfin tuna. One sailfish was caught today by the Sea Creature..

    Tomorrow there is a 40% chance of rain, with PM Thunderstorms. The wind is also supposed to switch to the SW at 15-20 mph.
