6-18-11 Fishing Report

Here is the Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island:  The weather stayed the same today as it was yesterday. Wind still blew out of the SE 15-25 mph. Temperatures ranged from the high 70’s to mid 80’s today. Still have a forcast for a wind change tonight to N 10-15 mph.

Beach Fishing today was decent as we heard of quite a few pompano and sea mullet on the south beach. We did weigh one citation pompano today at just over 2 lbs. There were also scattered bluefish along the beach.

Inshore Charters reported a nice day. Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Speckeled and Gray Trout, and Flounder were caught throughout the guides.

Offshore Charters reported a decent day as well. Dolphin fishing was good as gaffer and bailer dolphin were reported. Also a few amberjack. No Billfish were reported throughout our fleet.

The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament came to an end today with the slowest day being today. No billfish were reported being caught at all. The results of the tournament are as follows: Double B(652.8 lbs), Blue Water (580.6 lbs) and Sushi(467.4 lbs). The Release category is as follows: Release (1 Blue, 6 Whites), Jesus Freak (2 Blues, 2 Whites), and Galot 3 (2 BLues, 2 Whites).

Even though fishing was decent today, we expect a better report as soon as this wind switches North and dies down.
