8-17-11 Outer Banks Fishing Report

Here is your Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island:

It was such a nice day.  Sunny skies, light north-east winds at 10 mph and temperatures in the low 80’s.  The Buxton beach had some scattered catches of sea mullet, spot and bluefish.  At Cape Point they still are catching bluefish and spanish mackerel on lures in the morning and evening.  On the Frisco beach a few pompano and sea mullet were caught.  Some nice flounder are showing up around the remains of the Frisco Pier.  Down on the Hatteras beaches the same report as Frisco, scattered pompano and sea mullet.  The Hatteras Inlet fishing is best in the morning and evening throwing lures at the blue fish and spanish mackerel.  Inshore boats reported a good day with limits of spanish mackerel, some nice bluefish, speckled trout, flounder, 1 big red drum release and a 40 lb cobia.  Offshore fishing was real good.  Some dolphin limits, a few gaffers, wahoo and some blackfin tuna.  One blue marlin and five sail fish released from the fleet.
