Hatteras Island Fishing Report

The weather today started out cloudy and cool. The temperatures were in the mid 60’s and rose to the upper 70’s mid day. The wind’s were calm from the North-East.

Fishing from the beach today was pretty good. In Avon there was some sea-mullet. In Buxton there was sea-mullet, pompano, and sheepshead biting. Here in Frisco there was puppy drum and sea-mullet biting. In Hatteras there was flounder sea-mullet and bluefish caught.

Kathy Walke caught this nice 26 inch keeper puppy drum here on the Frisco beach today.

Below is a 116.2 pound cobia caught today by Blake Michael of Virginia. The fish is only 4 oz from beating the state record.

Offshore today the billfish action slowed down but there were still some caught for the tournament. The dolphin bite was good. The wahoo, black-fin tuna, and yellow-fin tuna bite was scattered. Outside of the tournament there was a few sailfish released.
