Hatteras Island Fishing Report

The high was 90 while the low was 75 with light winds. Gusts up to 10mph today. Currently it’s 84, feels like 93, with S winds around 4mph. Tomorrow we will see an increase in winds while temps will remain about the same. Rain should be starting in the afternoon and carrying into Thursday.

The island is looking at some interesting weather due to Hurricanes Franklin and Idalia, be sure to keep an eye on the forecast. Here’s what we know so far:

  • Ocean over wash is coming across the dunes onto Hwy 12 at Sandy Bay
  • Ocean over wash on Hwy 12 from north of Cross of Honor way to the old S curves in Rodanthe
  • Cape Point is impassable at high tide

Ocean water temp: ~82

Surf: Croaker, Pompano, Sea Mullet, Sheepshead

Sound: Bluefish, Speckled Trout

Inshore: Bluefish, Red Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Speckled Trout

Offshore: Amberjacks, Dolphin, Grouper, Tilefish, Wahoo

Releases: Blue Marlin, Sailfish
