    It’s been hot, humid, and buggy. The mosquitoes are crazy after the rain we had the other day. Ten minutes outside without bug spray? Don’t make that mistake. The high was 86 while the low was 81 with light to moderate winds. Gusts up to 28mph. Currently it’s 82, feels like 84, with SSW winds around 15mph. Gusts around 26mph. Tomorrow will be about the same. Temps up to 85 and winds up to moderate speeds. Chance of rain in the evening that will only increase in the early hours of Friday.

    Offshore: Offshore boats finally got back out there today. They came back to the docks with Blackfin Tuna and Wahoo. A few boats even released some Sailfish.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Today was full of rain, as we expected. The high was 82 while the low was 73 with light to strong winds. Gusts up to 39mph. Currently it’s 81 with S winds around 17mph. Gusts around 26mph. Tomorrow we’ll see similar wind speeds but direction will be switching to the SW. Temps are anticipated to be slightly warmer. Rain is possible but the percentage lowers throughout the day.

    Sound water temp: 81-85

    Ocean water temp: ~82


    Surf: Bluefish, Croaker, Sea Mullet, Sharks, Spanish Mackerel — Avon pier has seen catches of Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel. In Avon the Blacktip and Spinner Sharks have been hot. All over the island there has been reports of Croaker and Sea Mullet.

    Sound: Bluefish, Speckled Trout

    Inshore: No report.

    Offshore: No report.

    The past few days have been summer hectic. Today’s high was 82 while the low was 75 with light to strong winds. Gusts up to 25mph. Currently it’s 77, feels like 84, with E winds around 5mph. Tomorrow the temps should be about the same while winds will be increasing. Winds should get up to strong speeds (20+mph) with gusts up to 35mph. Chance of rain is around 80% all day.

    Today was a bit breezier which helped cut the sweltering heat just a little. The high was 86 while the low was 79 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 35mph. Currently it’s 81, feels like 84, with SW winds around 13mph. Gusts around 22mph. Tomorrow temps and winds will be comparable to today. Rain should be moving in in the afternoon and continuing into Thursday.

    Sound water temp: 81-85

    Ocean water temp: ~84


    Surf: The surf is still providing a variety of catches- Buefish, Croaker, Red Drum, Sea Mullet, Sharks, and Spot

    Sound: Speckled Trout season is finally open! We’ve heard of some being caught along with Bluefish and Red Drum.

    Inshore: Speckled Trout season reopened today! Inshore parties had their fair share of Speckled Trout catches along with Bluefish, Gray Trout, and Red Drum.

    Offshore: No report, they stayed at the docks due to wind.

    Today’s winds didn’t get as strong as anticipated. The high was 86 while the low was 75 with light to gentle winds. Gusts up to 30mph. Currently it’s 79, feels like 83, with SW winds around 10mph. Tomorrow’s temps will be nearly the same. Winds should be increasing to strong speeds.

    Surf: Reports from the ocean have been scattered all over the island but we’ve heard of Croaker, Sea Mullet, Sharks, Spanish Mackerel, and Spot.

    Sound: No report.

    Inshore/Nearshore: Between inshore and nearshore boats there were plenty Spanish Mackerel brought to the docks today. Inshore parties also brought in Bluefish and Gray Trout and released some Speckled Trout.

    Offshore: More Blackfin Tuna and Dolphins were caught with parties today. A few Sailfish were released as well.
