• Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Today was partly sunny.  We had south-west winds at 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 70’s.

    Good Luck to all the 22nd Hatteras Village Offshore Open Fisherman.

    Up on the Avon beach sea mullet and blow toads were caught.  Around the Buxton beaches bluefish, sea mullet and blow toads were reported.  Cape Point will be closed tonight at 9pm for an unknown time due to nesting black skimmers and least terns.  The 180 meter buffer extends past the driving area to Cape Point.  Over on the Frisco beach some sea mullet were caught.  Down at Hatteras Inlet sea mullet, bluefish and a few flounder were caught.

    The inshore boats caught some bluefish, spanish mackerel and a 50lb cobia was caught aboard “Tightlines” Charters today. TIGHTLINES COBIA 50 LB

    The offshore boats had excellent dolphin fishing with limits and real good wahoo and a few blackfin tuna.

    The Hatteras Village Offshore Open registration is May 10 with boats fishing 3 out 4 days May 11-14.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today we had beautiful, clear skies and a high of 79F.  The winds were out of the southeast this morning and switched to the southwest this afternoon, blowing around 10 mph.

    Another beautiful day to be on the beach.  Avon had catches of sea mullet and small bluefish.  Buxton is reporting sea mullet and small bluefish as well.  Frisco had some blow toads and a lost striper.  Pictured below is Justin Revere and son Grayson with the 40 inch “lost boy”, caught with a sandflea.  They were fishing for sea mullet.  Hatteras had catches of flounder, small bluefish and sea mullet.

    The inshore fishing is about to heat up…Cobia have arrived!  There were a couple caught today, the biggest weighing in at 62lbs.  There were also bluefish and some mackerel.  Pictured below is Team Dempsey with the 62lber and the 2nd picture is Tightline Charters with and nice one and some mackerel to go with.  Way to start the season off!!

    The offshore boats had excellent dolphin fishing today, with some wahoo mixed in.  There were a few blackfin tuna mixed in as well.  Pictured below is The Big Eye with a full box and the Runaway Sportsfishing with a couple of dolphin hooked. (beautiful colors)

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today was a beautiful day.  We had a high of 81F.  The winds were out of the west, then the slouthwest.  It will be out of the northeast tonight, blowing around 13-4 mph.

    It was a beautiful day on the beach.  There were sea mullet up and down the beach, in Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.  Buxton also had small bluefish and big drum to go with the sea mullet.  All Frisco had were the sea mullet and a nice day.  Hatteras had small bluefish and flounder to go with the sea mullet.  The picture below is Susan McClanahan with her nice sea mullet caught on the famous “River Rig”.

    The inshore boats had catches of bluefish today.

    It was a little bumpy for the offshore fleet this morning.  The seas smoothed over once further out and fish were caught.  There were good catches of gaffer size dolphin, some nice size blackfin tuna, a few wahoo and scattered yellowfin tuna.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Beautiful weather today. The temperature was up around 70 today. The winds were from the South-West at 5-10 mph for most of the day turning to the North-East later in the afternoon.

    From the beach the fishing was great. There were sea-mullet all over the beaches today. In Avon there was puppy drum, blue-fish, and flounder biting. In Buxton there was bluefish caught. Here in Frisco the pompano and small bluefish. Hatteras beach had small flounder and bluefish.

    Inshore the grey trout and bluefish were biting great in the morning. The afternoon fishing was slow.

    Offshore fishing is picking up daily. The billfish bite is getting better with every passing day. Today there was blue marlin released and a few sailfish released as well. Dolphin and black-fin tuna fishing was good today. The yellow-fin tuna and wahoo were scattered but some made it to the dock.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    The weather was much better today. There was still a few clouds around. The temperature was in the lower 60’s again today. Winds were from the South-West at 10-15 this morning calming down as the day went on.

    Fishing from the beach was still slow today. From the beach in Avon there was sea-mullet biting. In Buxton there was sea-mullet, and bluefish caught. In Hatteras there was sea-mullet, bluefish, and some small flounder caught.

    Inshore fishing was good this morning and slowed down in the afternoon. There was sea-mullet and grey trout caught in the sound. Just out side the inlet there was bluefish and spanish mackerel caught.

    Gaffer dolphin were all over offshore today. The yellow-fin and black-fin tuna bite was scattered. A few wahoo were caught today as well. There was a couple of sailfish released today.
