• 6-24-11 Fishing Report

    Here is your Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island: 

    The weather was quite windy today. Winds blowing 15-25 mph out of the SW and highs in the upper 80’s.  This made the southern beaches in Frisco and Hatteras dirty and chopped up.Beach Fishing was about as slow as it could be. This SW wind has really taken its toll on the beach fishing. We did not hear of anything from the beach today.

    Inshore charters did however have a nice report today. There were good speckled trout and bluefish bites.  There were some Spanish Mackerel and Flounder around as well.

    No Offshore Charters went out of Hatteras Harbor today due to weather conditions.

    The weather is supposed to stay relatively the same tomorrow as it was today. Still calling for Thunderstorms and SW winds. The wind however is going to drop to 10-20 mph.

  • 6-23-11 Fishing Report

    Here is your Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island: The wind blew hard out of the southwest which messed things up on the beach and offshore. Only a few blues and pompano were reported along the beach.
    The inshore boats seem to have the best luck with blues, spanish, flounder, and speckled trout..
    Only a few boats tried going out because of the wind and had good dolphin catches and a few amberjack.

  • 6-22-11 Fishing Report

    Here is your Hatteras Island Fishing Report: The weather today was not as nice as one would like, but it wasnt horrible either. Wind blew out of the SW 10-15 mph today, which should have slowed beach fishing up, however it did not. Temps ranged from high 70’s to mid 80’s all day.

    Beach Fishing was decent once again today. Pompano and Sea Mullet were abundant throughout the southern beaches. One lady came in and weighed a 2 lb 2 oz Pompano and didn’t even sign citation papers because she had just signed for a 3 lb Pompano the day before. There were also sightings of Spanish Mackerel jumping from Ramp 55 (Hatteras Beach).

    Inshore Charters reported good catches of Spanish Mackerel and a few Bluefish mixed in. Not too many Flounder, but a few were around.

    Offshore Charters had another good day on Dolphin by limiting out on Bailers and Gaffers, but not quite as crazy as yesterday.There were also reports of 1 Blue Marlin and 3 Sailfish that came out of Hatteras Harbor Marina.  Teachs Lair Marina reported several white marlin released, one boat caught 4.  Tomorrow  the forecast is calling for Thunderstorms and wind blowing SW at 15-20 mph, but it has called for Thunderstorms for the last week and we’ve only seen one early one morning. Also the wind seemed to be shifting NW when we stepped outside of the store a few moments ago. So best advice is to wake up and checkout whats going on when you want to go. Sometimes the best fishing can come in the worst conditions.

  • 6-21-11 Fishing Report

    The Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island: The wind did not pick up like they predicted . It hung in around 5-10 mph out of the South. The ocean was very clear but on the north side the rip was really strong; 5 oz. had a hard time holding. We are still praying for a few days of rain. With the lack of rain; mosquito bites are a rarity. I have only had a half doz. bites all summer. There were a few days of green head flies We have only had one small rain shower in the past 6 weeks.
    From Hatteras to Avon we had a mix of small and keeper Flounder. We also had reports of Blues, Spanish, Pompano, and Sea Mullet. Harrison Finney employee of the day; had one citation Pompano and one just under 2 lbs.
    Inshore report good Spanish catches along the beach. In the sound they reported Gray trout, Blues, Spanish, and keeper flounder
    Offshore reported limits of Dolphin (mostly bailers) and some Skip Jacks.  The billfish bite was decent during the second day of the Hatteras Marlin Club Billfish tournament.   Two blue marlin, multiple whites and a couple of sailfish released.

  • 6-20-11 Fishing Report

    The Outer Banks fishing report for Hatteras Island:  Today was sunny and hot, with highs around 90 degrees and west north west winds 15-20 mph.  Slow fishing today.  Just a few sea mullet and pompano on the Frisco beach.  Down at Hatteras, some small blues and croakers were reported.  The inshore boats had a good day with catches of blues, spanish mackerel, flounder and some speckle and gray trout.  Offshore limits of dolphin were caught.
