Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island:

Overcast and windy all day.  The winds were from the north-east at 20-30 mph and the temperatures were in the upper 50’s all day.  There were a few fish caught in the Hook just south of Cape Point.  A few bluefish.  That about it for fishing today.  Well the 54th Annual Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Surf Fishing Tournament started off slow and almost ended the same way.   During the last session of tournament yesterday, the team “Roanoke Surf Fishing Club”  were fishing in the Hook and had zero points, but one bluefish gave them 2 point and then Gary Creasy of Hardy VA hooked into a nice fish.  Gary fought it down the beach in the rough surf about 200 yds and finally beached the 46 inch Red Drum to win the 54th Annual Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Surf Fishing Tournament with 90 total points.  Great job guys.  In 2nd place “SCABS/Surf Casters and Bull Shooters” had 64 points and in 3rd “South Jersey Surf Casters” with 63 points.  The 1st place women’s team were the “Show Stoppers” with 16 points.  Great job to all the anglers and thank you for shopping with us.

Well it is has been a wet and windy day.  The winds were from the north-east at 10-15 mph and picking up around noon to 20-30 mph.  The temperatures were in the low 60’s.  It was rough all day on both sides, north and south beaches.  The only fish reported were in the hook by Cape Point and down near Hatteras Inlet.  There were bluefish and one team caught a 46 inch red drum in the hook this afternoon.  I’m sure that was the winning catch of the 54th Annual Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Surf Fishing Tournament.  I will post the winners later tonight when the results are in. Tomorrow is the Bob Bernard individual tournament.  No boats fished today due to the bad weather.

Today was nice and sunny and the winds were calm.  We had light and variable north-east winds and the temperatures were in the mid 60’s.  Well the first day of the 54th Annual Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Surf Fishing Tournament was a little slow for most teams.  Lots of little non scoring bluefish were caught on the south beach.  A few teams did manged to catch some 14-16 inch bluefish, one 21 inch puppy drum was caught and some flounder to score some points on the Frisco beach.   The north beach has the most swell and no fish were reported. One day left for the teams to fish.  On Saturday is the Bob Bernard individual tournament followed by the awards banquet.  Tomorrow and saturday will be real windy and rain is forecasted due to the low pressure system passing through.  The Inshore fishing was good today.  Some nice speckled trout were caught.  Offshore boats also had good catches of wahoo and gaffer dolphin.  A few blackfin tuna and a sailfish was released.

CHAC Day 1 top 3 Teams:

    1- “The Rising Tides” score 17 fish-31points

    2- “Bald Hooters” score 11 fish-24 points

    3- “Sand Fiddlers” score 10 fish-23 points

Today’s weather has improved a little.  It has been mostly sunny and the winds have dropped a little bit.  The winds were from the north-east at 15 mph and the temperatures are in the low 60’s.  The rest of the week is going to warm up to the mid 60’s and the north-east winds are supposed to drop to 5-15 mph the rest of the week.  We had a pretty good morning bite at Cape Point of bluefish and a few puppy drum and about 6 drum over 40 inches caught there too.  The Frisco beach had some bluefish and we weighed in a 27″ puppy drum from ramp 49.  The Hatteras beaches had good bluefish bites and also some small speckled trout.  No boats fishing inshore or offshore today.
