Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island:

The Weather in Frisco was sunny and windy.  We had south-west winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 25 mph.  The temperatures were in the mid 80’s.  The Avon and Buxton beaches had some sea mullet and croakers caught.  The Frisco beach had reports of sea mullet and pompano.  The Hatteras beaches today were pretty good.  Some nice size pompano and sea mullet were caught.  Some flounder were reported on the soundside down near Hatteras Inlet.  The inshore boats had good spanish mackerel and bluefish catches in the morning.  The speckled and gray trout were biting well this morning.  Some big drum were caught too.  By the afternoon the wind really picked up and the fishing was slower.  The offshore boats had real good dolphin and blackfin tuna fishing.  A few wahoo, two sailfish and a white marlin were caught too.  The picture below is a gaffer dolphin from the “Bite Me” charter boat.

To catch some live bait for excellent flounder fishing in the Pamlico sound, the Gee’s Minnow Trap will do the trick.  Bait with bread, pet food or some cut up fish and place in a canal and the minnows will find their way in.
