Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island. We had another sunny day  with calm winds.  The winds were from the north-east at 5 mph and the temperatures were in the upper 50’s. Our sand road at Mirlo Beach is still passable and could be all weekend with the forecast of light winds and the ocean swell much smaller.

Fishing was slow today.  There were a few speckled trout caught on the Buxton beach.  Out at Cape Point there were  sharks and skates reported.  On the Frisco beach a few puppy drum and flounder were reported.  On the Hatteras beach some puppy drum and a few speckled trout were caught.

Only a few boats fished offshore today.  They caught some nice yellowfin and blackfin tuna and lots of albacore.

winchester blindside shotshellThe Winchester Blind Side Shotshell are made with pellets that are not round but hexahedronal, that is, rounded, but wit six flat sides, like dice. The advantage to the shape is two-fold: the pellets pack more compactly into a hull, allowing higher payloads (1-3/8 ounces in a 3” hull, 1-5/8” in a 3.5”), and the shape increases shocktrauma on tissue when it hits.  A great choice for waterfowl.
