Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today was mostly cloudy with a few rain showers.  The winds were from the north-east 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the low 60’s.

Around the Buxton beaches there were bluefish and puppy drum caught. Out at Cape Point in Buxton only some bluefish, sharks and skates reported.  Over on Ramp 49 in Frisco some blow toads. sea mullet and puppy drum were caught.

The inshore boats had another good day catching the big red drum around Hatteras Inlet.

The offshore boats had some decent blackfin tuna fishing with some citations.  There was a scattered dolphin and wahoo bite.  The bottom fishing continues to be good with black sea bass, snapper, triggerfish, rose fish and amberjack.

Penn Fathom Star Drag

The revolutionary Live Spindle? design is the reason the new Fathom Star Drag is the most castable reel in the market place. The improved configuration allows the spool to spin independently of the spindle and pinion gear, which significantly reduces friction experienced from the extreme acceleration of the spool when casting. Other reels using a “fixed spindle” design slow the rotation of the spool and reduce casting distance. Additionally the Live Spindle improves the retrieve of the reel because the spindle and pinion do not need to turn relative to each other during heavy loads, unlike a “fixed spindle” reels that result in a difficult retrieve and erratic drag.
