• Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Today’s high was 88. Winds got up to 17 mph. They were mostly out of the SW. It’s currently blowing SW at 8mph. Looks like we lucked out on the storms but up the beach definitely didn’t. We may be getting hit with some later tonight though.

No report from the surf or sound.

Offshore boats caught Dolphin and Wahoo and released some billfish.

Inshore boats caught Red Drum, Speckles, and some Blues.

Be sure to check in on the Big Rock Tournament, there’s a lot of Hatteras Inlet boats participating.

    Yamamoto 6 inch Senko Worm

If there’s been one lure that has changed the face of fishing over the years, it’s the Yamamoto Senko. With its wide range of uses and subtle natural action, the Yamamoto Senko has quickly become a favorite with anglers all over the world. The beauty of the Senko is in it’s simplicity. The Yamamoto Senko may just look like a thick round plastic worm but the fall rate created from the large amount of salt impregnated in the body drives fish mad. When rigged weightless the Yamamoto Senko falls horizontally with a seductive side to side tail action. Try wacky rigging or texas rigging the Yamamoto Senko and experience the versatility and effectiveness it provides.

The high today got up to 88. Real feel was 90 and up. Winds have been mostly gentle today even though they were forecasted to be stronger. It’s currently blowing out of the NW around 9mph with gusts up to 23mph. Tomorrow the winds should be decreasing and switching towards the N. Tomorrow is also expected to be a bit cooler than today but humidity is still high so be sure to drink plenty of water.

Catches in the surf and sound included Sea Mullet and Croaker.

Offshore boats stayed at the docks due to the wind.

Inshore boats had a nice day with Red Drum, Speckled Trout, and Cobia.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Today got up to 88 but felt more like 94. Winds have been out of the SW for most of the day. They started off gentle, became moderate, and are now back to gentle. It’s currently blowing about 10mph with gusts up to 17mph. Tomorrow looks like winds are going to stay out of the SW but increase along with the temperatures. Humidity and UV index have been and will continue to be high, be sure to stay hydrated and reapply sunscreen often.

We heard of Pompano being caught in the surf along with small Sea Mullet and Flounder. It was a little too rough for any Red Drum to be caught out there today.

In the sound we heard of Sheepshead, Speckled Trout, and Red Drum.

Offshore boats brought back Dolphin and Wahoo again. Tomorrow is looking to rough for the big boats so they’ll most likely stay at the docks.

Inshore boats limited out with Speckled Trout and Red Drum again but also got into some Cobia.

Don’t forget to stay tuned in to the Big Rock Tournament this week.
