This morning we had thunder storms rolling through early. the winds were 5-10 mph from the North-East. Later in the day the sun was shining and the temperature was in the upper 60’s.

Even with the thunderstorms the morning the fishing was still really good. From the beach in Avon there was bluefish, sea-mullet, blow toads, and grey trout at the pier. In Buxton today the sea-mullet bluefish, and blow toads were biting. There was also some puppy drum caught. From the Frisco beach there was sea-mullet, croaker, and blow toads. Hatteras beach there was big drum caught near the inlet, along with bluefish, blow toads, and sea-mullet.

From the beach today David Sledge from Chesapeake, Va caught a nice 45 inch drum late in the day at ramp 55.

With the wind and rain this morning only a few boats went offshore. The yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, and dolphin were biting again today. Albacore and amberjack started to bite today as well. There was sea bass, grouper, and golden tile caught.

Capt. Andy from the Good Times had a great trip today catching golden tile, blackfin, and grouper. Heres a picture of the group at the dock this afternoon.

    penn fathom

    Penn Fathom Star Drag

The revolutionary Live Spindle? design is the reason the new Fathom Star Drag is the most castable reel in the market place. The improved configuration allows the spool to spin independently of the spindle and pinion gear, which significantly reduces friction experienced from the extreme acceleration of the spool when casting. Other reels using a “fixed spindle” design slow the rotation of the spool and reduce casting distance. Additionally the Live Spindle improves the retrieve of the reel because the spindle and pinion do not need to turn relative to each other during heavy loads, unlike a “fixed spindle” reels that result in a difficult retrieve and erratic drag.
