• Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today was a much nicer day.  We had sunny skies with the winds from the west switching to the north-east in the afternoon at 10-15 mph and the temperatures were in the low 50’s.

This Monday the Oregon Inlet bridge will be closed at 9am for about 30 minutes to do a Sonar Scan to check the condition of the bridge.

The swell has calmed a lot today.  The water is still dirty near the beaches and only a few puppy drum reported out at Cape Point in Buxton today.  .

There is no inshore report today.  The offshore report was much better today.with tilefish and grouper caught from the bottom.  The bluefin tuna made a showing today with the “Bite Me” charter boat catching two in the 80 inch range weighing a dressed weight of 275 lbs. and 248 lbs.  Pretty work guys.

Today the winds decreased and the sun same out.  The winds were from the west north-west at 10 mph and the temperatures were in the low 50’s.

The ocean is still rough on the Buxton beach and the Frisco beach was cleaner but the swell is still big.  We had quite a few people giving it a try today but no reports of any catches.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today we had heavy rain all day with lots of wind.  The winds were from the north-east switching to the north north-west at 15-25 mph with gusts to 40 mph.  The temperatures were in the low 50’s. This low pressure is still pounding Hatteras Island.  There is some soundside flooding in Hatteras village and a little in Frisco.  The ocean has over washed a little bit on the north end of Buxton around the motels.  I’m sure Mirlo Beach in Rodanthe has some ocean over wash as well at times of High Tide.

The ocean was extremely rough with the seas in the 13-19 foot range.  The water was up to the dune line on the Frisco Beach.  This made the choice not to fish easy.

There is no inshore or offshore report for today.

Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

Today we had light rain with some wind.  The winds were from the north-east at 10-20 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 40’s.  We have a low pressure passing through tonight with lots of wind a rain.  The winds could be as high as 40 mph sustained.   There is a possibility of some ocean overwash on Hwy 12 on the north end of Buxton and Mirlo Beach in Rodanthe.

Even with the ocean rough on both the North and south beaches with this low pressure moving through the puppy drum bite is still strong. The Frisco Beach over Ramp 49 is still producing several nice slot size puppy drum.
