• Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today was such a nice day with comfortable temperatures and lots of sunshine.  We had light north winds 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the upper 60’s.

    The fishing today was great with spanish mackerel, some blue fish, a few gray trout and cobia caught off the Avon Pier.  Out at Cape Point in Buxton more cobia, some puppy drum and big drum along with some bluefish were reported.  Over on the Frisco beach some pompano, bluefish, black drum and sea mullet were caught.  The picture below is Francis Kennedy with a 5 lb 10 oz black drum caught on the south beach today.  Pretty work Francis.

    The inshore boats caught more cobia, but in the 40-60 lb range, a little bigger than yesterday.  There were  bluefish, puppy drum and gray trout reported in the Pamlico Sound today.  The offshore fleet reports good gaffer dolphin, a few wahoo, and blackfin tuna.  A blue marlin and a white marlin were released today.  Tomorrow is the first day of the 20 th Annual Hatteras Village Offshore Open.  Good Luck to all the participants.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    A beautiful day was had by all here on Hatteras Island.  The southern breeze continues, blowing 5-10 throughout the day with a high around 78 degrees.

    Avon Pier had Spanish and bluefish this morning, along with some pompano and sea mullet.  Ramp 43 had reports of sea mullet.  Cape Point had 4 or 5 cobia landed a couple of big drum and a puppy drum.    Ramp 49 had reports of a few sea mullet, puppy drum and blue fish.  Ramp 55 had pompano.  Pictured below is Summer Bracher with her cobia she landed at Cape Point this evening.  Also pictured below is Lee Haller with his 65lb citation cobia caught off Ocracoke.  Nice fish!!

    The inshore boats caught cobia, most in the 20-40lb range.  Cobia season is just heating up, lots of cobia have been seen!  The offshore fleet reports good gaffer dolphin, some wahoo, and a few blackfin tuna.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Happy Mother’s Day to all the  mothers out there.  We hope you had a wonderful day.

    Today we had cloudy skies with temperatures in the upper 70’s.  The winds have been out of the south all day, it started out of the west-south-west at 10 mph, then switched to the south-west this afternoon, then back to the west-south-west this evening, decreasing to around 5 mph.

    Buxton had reports of sea mullet and bluefish.  The bluefish were caught on bait and metal.  The bite of big drum at Cape Point continues, starting this afternoon on through this evening.  Frisco beach had reports of sea mullet, a few pompano, small bluefish and puppy drum.  Hatteras beach had reports of small bluefish, sea mullet and blow toads.  Pictured below is Tim Roehrs and the drum he caught at Cape Point this afternoon. Ben Williams with a big drum he caught at Cape Point this evening.  Also pictured is Eugene Clinton with a big drum also caught at Cape Point.

    Inshore boats caught limits of cobia and saw plenty more.  The offshore boats had reports of real good gaffer dolphin, a few yellowfin and blackfin tuna were caught also.  Pictured below is the Tuna Duck with a nice gaffer dolphin and also the Godspeed with a nice gaffer dolphin.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Even with the wind and a few clouds, today was still good for fishing. Winds from the South-West at 10-20mph and temps hanging around the mid 70’s.

    Avon today had the largest variety today. From the beach the Sea-Mullet and Blues with some flounder and Craokers biting from the pier. In Buxton the big Red Drum were still hanging out around the point. Some Sea-Mullet and Blues were everywhere else. Frisco and Hatteras had a very slow day today.

    No inshore report for the day.

    The gaffer Dolphin were still here even with the wind. Some stray Wahoo were found. along with a few Blackfin Tuna.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    The sun was still shining today. with west winds throughout the day from 5-10mph in the morning changing to 15-20mph in the afternoon

    In Avon today a few Sea-Mullet, Flounder and Bluefish were caught. In Buxton today the Sea-Mullet and citation Pompano were biting. Also at the point today the large Red Drum were biting. On the Frisco beaches today the Puppy Drum and Sea-Mullet were being caught. No report from Hatteras.

     

    Inshore today was busy. From Bluefish in the inlet to Clams on the shoals. Cobia were spotted and caught and also some nice Puppy Drum.

     

    Offshore today was possibly one of the best days this year. The gaffer Dolphin were thick today. A few Blackfin and Yellowfin Tuna were also caught. From the bottom the bottom today Grouper were biting. As for Marlins a White and a Blue were released.
