• Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today was overcast with rain showers late in the day.  We had south winds at 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the mid 70’s.

    The fishing was a little slow with only a few sea mullet and bluefish caught off of the Avon beach.  Up around the Buxton beaches sea mullet and a few pompano were reported.  The Frisco beach had some sea mullet action.

    The inshore boats reported nice catches of puppy drum and some larger red drum were released.  A pretty decent trout bite was also reported.  Pictured below is a nice puppy drum caught aboard “Hang On” charters today.

    The offshore boats caught many dolphin, a few wahoo and blackfin tuna.  There were a few nice grouper caught as well as sailfish and white marlin releases.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today was another nice day on Hatteras Island.  The temperatures were right around 70 today with winds out of the north this morning, blowing around 4-10 mph.  The winds are switching to the south-south-east this evening.

    There’s a few fish being caught on this beautiful day.  In Avon sea mullet, small bluefish and a few blow toads were caught.  In Buxton some pompano and sea mullet were caught.  Frisco had some nice sea mullet, small bluefish and a few spanish mackerel.  Hatteras had a few sea mullet, small flounder and one pompano.

    The inshore boats had excellent catches of spanish mackerel and gray trout, also some bonita mackerel and bluefish.

    The offshore boats had good dolphin catches, with scattered wahoo and blackfin tuna catches.  Pictured below is Sea Bear Charters with a nice dolphin caught today.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today the skies were clear and the temperature was in the lower 70’s. The winds were out of the north, northwest, then west winds today at 5-12 mph.  The temperatures will be a little cooler tomorrow.

    Now is a good time to be fishing.  There were fish caught today.  In Avon there were sea mullet, bluefish and blow toads.  Avon Pier had sea mullet, gray trout and blow toads.  Buxton had pompano, bluefish, spanish mackerel and sea mullet.  Frisco beach had sea mullet and puppy drum.  Pictured below is Jeff Madre with a nice puppy drum caught today at Ramp 49.  Hatteras had catches of small bluefish, short flounder and sea mullet.

    The inshore boats had good catches of spanish mackerel and bluefish.  The cobia bite was a little scattered today.

    The offshore boats had real good catches of dolphin, a few wahoo and  scattered blackfin tuna.  There was also a nice grouper caught aboard the Good Times Sportfishing, picture below.  The second picture is Bluefin Sportfishing with a nice dolphin.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Reports

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    The weather today was great. There was some clouds around in the early morning clearing up for most of the day.  The temperatures were in the mid 70’s. The winds were from the North-West and calm  in the morning picking up late in the afternoon and turning to the South-West.

    From the beach today the fishing was good. In Avon the sea-mullet were biting on the beach. From the Pier there was sea-mullet, bluefish, croaker and blow-toads. In Buxton there was sea-mullet, bluefish, and pompano caught. Here in Frisco there was puppy drum and some yearlings mixed in. Also some sea-mullet were caught. In Hatteras there was a few bluefish and sea-mullet caught.

    Offshore today the billfish bite was on again. There was a few sailfish released and a blue marlin released. The dolphin fishing was great today. The black-fin tuna were scattered.

    The final results for the Hatteras Village Offshore Open is:

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    The day started out pretty nice. Temperatures were in the mid 70’s and skies were partly cloudy until late afternoon when rain and thunder storms set in. Winds were from the South-West and calm til around noon when they picked up to 10-15 mph.

    From the beach today the fishing picked up. In Avon there was sea-mullet from the beach. The Avon Pier opened today and there were sea-mullet, bluefish, and a few small flounder caught. In Buxton there was sea-mullet and a 40 inch cobia caught near the jetty’s. Here in Frisco the sea-mullet and puppy drum were biting. In Hatteras there was small bluefish, a few sea-mullet, flounder and puppy drum caught.

    Pam Smith from Buxton caught a nice 25 inch puppy drum right here on Ramp 49 right as the rain started.

    Inshore fishing was good today. There was some spanish mackerel, bluefish, and cobia caught. A few people are starting to go clamming and are having good luck.

     

    Even with the rougher conditions the fishing was still good offshore. The billfish are still biting with sailfish, white marlin, and blue marlin being released today. From the bottom there was a good amber jack bite. The dolphin and black-fin tuna bite was good today.

    The third day of the Hatteras Village Offshore Open was a a little rough. Most boats took a lay day for today.
