• Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today we had sunny skies.  We have had steady southwest winds around 15 mph, with an occasional higher gust.  The temperature reached a high around 81F.

    Avon beach had reports of sea mullet.  Buxton beach had some nice pompano, a few citation size.  Ramp 49 had some sea mullet, spot and puppy drum.  Hatteras had some Spanish mackerel and also a nice cobia.

    The inshore boats caught trout, flounder and drum.  Those that ventured nearshore caught Spanish mackerel and bluefish.  Pictured below is Mason Wyrick with a nice puppy drum he caught in the sound this afternoon.

    The offshore boats came back to the docks with lots of dolphin, scattered yellowfin and blackfin tuna and a few tilefish.  There were several sailfish released today.  Pictured below is the Hatteras Blue with a sailfish release and the Sea Creature with a yellowfin tuna.

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!!! To all the great dad’s out there I hope your day was wonderful!!!

    Today we had clear skies.  Winds were out of the north-east this morning, switching to the south-east this evening, blowing 10-5 mph.  We had a high around 75F.

    Avon beach reports bluefish, sea mullet and croaker.  Buxton beach reports pompano, sea mullet and spanish mackerel .  Frisco beach reports a couple of big bluefish, early.  There were also some pompano caught.  Hatteras beach had reports of sea mullet.  Pictured below is Susan McClanahan with a 2lb 11oz citation pompano she caught at Ramp 49. Also a double header she  caught at Ramp 43.

    Inshore boats caught puppy drum.  FYI, speckled trout is now opened back up.  The offshore boats caught yellowfin and dolphin.  Good Luck to those fishing the Hatteras Marlin Club Tournament this week!!!

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today was a great day for fishing. The winds in the morning were North at 5-10 mph coming around to north east in the afternoon. The Temperature was in the upper 70’s throughout the day.

    The fishing was good again today. In Avon today the Spanish, Bluefish, Croakers, and Spot.  Buxton was slower today with just some Black Drum and Sea-Mullet. From the Frisco beaches there was some Pompano, Spot, Sea-Mullet, and Black Drum. Hatteras had Sea-Mullet, Pompano, and some Flounder.

    For the ones fishing Inshore it was a good day. Some Speckled Trout, Drum, and Flounder in the sound and a scattered Cobia bite outside of the inlet.

    Offshore today had a large variety of fish. There were some Blue Marlin and White Marlin released. The Blackfin and Yellowfin Tuna bite was scattered today. There was also a few King Mackerel scattered around. The Dolphin bite was spot on today.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    The winds today were West-South-West at 10-15 mph. The morning was mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers nut the sun came out around 6 in the evening. The temperature was in the lower 80’s throughout the day.

    There was a Cobia caught in Salvo today, along with some small Flounder. In Avon today there were some Spanish Mackerel caught from the pier. Also there were some Spot, Croaker, and Bluefish. In Buxton today there were some scattered Puppy Drum with some Bluefish Sea-Mullet. From the Frisco Beaches there were Puppy Drum, Black Drum, Pompano, Sea-Mullet and a scattered Bluefish. In Hatteras there were some Pompano Sea-Mullet and Bluefish.

    Inshore Boats were all over the fish today. The Cobia were just outside of the inlet today  along with some Spanish Mackerel. In the sound today there were Gray Trout and Puppy Drum.

    Offshore today there was plenty of Dolphin caught. The Blackfin Tuna and Wahoo bite was scattered. There were also a few Billfish caught.

  • Hatteras Island Fishing Report

    Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island.

    Today we had sunny skies.  The winds were out of the south-east around 5-10 mph and the temperatures were in the low 80’s.

    Around the Avon beach today there were reports some sea mullet, spot and croakers caught. On the  Buxton beaches they caught small bluefish and some sea mullet and spot.  Over on the Frisco beach we had some small bluefish  The Hatteras beach reports sea mullet and puppy drum.

    The inshore boats had good catches of puppy drum and spanish mackerel.

    The offshore boats had another a decent day of gaffer size dolphin with some pretty decent yellow fin Tuna.  The trigger and black belly rosefish from the bottom was good.

    The 56th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament only has two days to fish.  Al lot of boats fished the first four days out of 6 which means there will be fewer boats fishing the last day on Saturday.  There were 5 blue marlin and 11 white marlin released today.  Two blue marlin were brought to the scales today a 412 lb by the “Chainlink” to take third place for just a few hours when the “Ava D” put up a 491 lb to capture third place for now.  The picture below is the “Ava D” and Captain Jerry Jackson with their 491 lb blue.  Pretty work guys!!!   For a full report click the link www.thebigrock.com.
